In October of this year I took part in a 5 day Trek across the Grand Canyon. Along with 12 others we embarked on a life changing challenge to raise money for the hospice.

After nearly a year of fundraising to reach the target of £3500 countless bag packs at the local supermarket, cake sales, raffles, harassing friends and family members for sponsorship I managed to get to my target.

In total over £18,000 was raised for the local hospice.

Donations to the Hospice enable us to continue providing specialist medical and nursing care to patients through our in-patient unit, day hospice and community nurses. The team also supports patients’ families and friends during the illness and in their bereavement.

The Hospice cares for more than 1,500 patients each year. As the range of services we offer is free of charge, it costs the Hospice more than £6,800 each day just to maintain these existing levels of service. Although we are fortunate to receive some grant funding, we are reliant on our local community for the majority.
